We all know that when we feel good in our surrounding, we are more comfortable, more relaxed and happier.

Having a dark and dreary home can put a damper on our days and our mood, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Pardon the pun! By making some slight adjustments around the home, it can help brighten our days and our lives.

Here are our top tips:

Lighting

Lighting can make such a massive difference to our space and how we feel about it when we are in it. Cool or daylight tones can help you brighten your home during the day, mimicking the presence of sunlight.

Warm tones like warm white or soft white used in lamps in the evening can give a cosy feel. You can also consider using candles or even fairy light.

Plants

When we get cabin fever when it’s raining days on end, plants can help add light and brightness to our home and make us feel like we have a little bit of outdoors indoors.

Choose plants that are inside friendly and complement your home décor.

Colour

Colour can bring lightness and brightness into your home. Lighter colours will make your home seem more spacious and inviting in the colder months.

Pops of colour such as colourful cushions or throw rugs can instantly put you in a good mood!

Mirrors

Mirrors are a great way to help bounce natural light around a room and will make your room seem larger. Metallic items will also reflect light around rooms to add that extra warmth.

Music

It’s not all about making physical changes to a room that can change your environment. There is nothing like putting on some upbeat music to put you in a good mood and make your home feel cosy, and it's sure to put you in a great vibe as soon as you hit that play dial.
