This beautiful, coastal  suburb also boasts Adelaide’s only tramline, which allows beachgoers to catch a tram from the city and alight in Moseley Square, just metres from the sparkling sea.

Only twenty minutes from the CBD, busy, buzzy, beachy Glenelg is home to both the young and the evergreen, especially those who enjoy active and/or maritime lifestyles.

Who wouldn’t want to be buying Glenelg real estate?

Glenelg’s lifestyle and location naturally attract well-heeled homebuyers, who pay up to $4M to enjoy stunning views from luxurious waterfront houses and apartments.

For everyone else, there are plenty of choices in budget-to-moderately priced houses and units—some also with water views—in a wide range of architectural styles and of varying ages.

For example, we recently sold a turn-of-the-century, character maisonette at 39 Gordon Street for $648 500 to a very excited young couple who are now busy converting it into their modern dream home.

RealEstate.com.au data reveals that over the past eight years median prices for houses peaked in 2011 and 2015 then settled down to the long-term, fairly stable trend in 2016 and 2017.

During the same eight-year period prices for home units remained very stable.

Many of the home units in the area are investment properties and landlords reap the financial rewards that consistently high demand brings.

Dining out and partying on in Glenelg

After buying Glenelg real estate, you’re close to many options for dining with an ocean view at a number of highly rated restaurants (based on TripAdvisor reviews).

Steaks, seafood and Australian-style food head the menu at many of these; some also offer vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Locals and visitors alike have a wealth of cafés from which to choose for a leisurely coffee date or lunch with friends, or a caffeine-fuelled business meeting with a side of something sweet.

Glenelg cafés operate in a very competitive environment so you can be sure that those that stay in business do so because they are giving their customers what they want.

The numerous pubs and clubs in Glenelg stay open late and some offer weekend entertainment.

And for something different, the Glenelg Pedal Bar offers groups of up to sixteen the chance to ‘party and pedal’, with two-hour, pedal-powered tours of beach tracks, visiting bars and beaches along the way.
